Silhouettes

Week 1

 Week 2
For the past two weeks in my head painting class, I've been learning how to create silhouettes from life. It's really hard to do. However, I've been getting more comfortable.  In week 1, I drew out the portrait using paint, and when it came time to fill it in with black, it got too muddy and it was hard to paint the details. So in week 2, I sketched it out with a prismacolor pencil (it's waxy enough to stick on canvas paper) rather than with paint because it was easier to draw the forms of the face.

I am less frustrated than I was a week before. (:

Head Studies

Here are some head studies I came up with last week. I used references from various fashion magazines along with some portraits that would come up on my dashboard whenever I was on Tumblr.

Yes, I try to be somewhat productive whenever I'm on Tumblr.

Art History

I was taking some notes during lecture today, but then I found myself drawing people in class instead. It was actually pretty fun. Now I know why people go to coffee shops to sit and draw random people.

I ought to try it sometime.

Head Studies

A couple of head studies I did last week. Some were from reference and others were without. I still need a lot of practice.

Life Drawing

I attend life drawing workshops at school to practice what I've learned in my foundation year. As you can see, I still need to improve a lot. I hope that my sketches in the future will progress. I will try to upload my progress every week from now on, because these were done a few weeks ago.

And I Quote:

"For what it’s worth: it’s never too late to be whoever you want to be. I hope you live a life you’re proud of, and if you find that you’re not, I hope you have the strength to start all over again."

- F. Scott Fitzgerald

I think this is what I needed.

Novus

I don't know where I'll be going with this blog, but here goes nothing.
